Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo has suggested that Igli Tare may even consider bringing Stefano Pioli back to AC Milan.
After the rumours that had circulated for days and even weeks, it was made official yesterday that Tare is the new sporting director of Milan. One of the first issues he must tackle is identifying the right coach, with so many different names linked already.
Parolo gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport recently in which he spoke at length about what Tare is like as a person and as a director. He made some predictions in that discussion about some of the moves he might make.
Now, the DAZN pundit was asked about who Milan’s next coach might be during the latest episode of Step On Football. He made the rather bold claim that Pioli is someone that might look at, if he cannot get Vincenzo Italiano.
“Igli is crazy about Italiano, he would like to bring him to Milan. And if he can’t do it? I know very well how much Igli respects Pioli: if he could, he would bring him back,” he said (via MilanPress).
“However, one of the critical issues Pioli had at Milan was not having a point of reference, not having a collaborator. He didn’t know who to talk to in difficult moments: Igli would be that pawn. But in my opinion Pioli will never return to Milan.”
